Thursday, 13th November 2008

AMI: Freeze on regulatory fees needed The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has called for a freeze on regulatory fees and dividends for its members in order to assist them in the current financial crisis.

Director of the organisation Robert Sinclair said a lot had happened to the housing market in the last six months and was trying its hardest to assist its members through the difficult period, but more changes had to be brought in by the government.

He also called for a reduction in corporation tax for small firms, more free cases at the Financial Ombudsman Service and ring fencing on banking bail outs.

Mr Sinclair continued: "Our industry has faced real challenges but we have been at the heart of the public policy debates looking for answers.

"It is vital that the interest of intermediaries is represented at the very highest level."

Last week, Robert Sinclair welcomed the 1.5 per cent interest rate cut and said that it demonstrated support for the underlying economy.ADNFCR-1767-ID-18874868-ADNFCR
